Why This Work Matters

If Humun Design is an evolutionary life hack, then a persunalized Humun Design reading is when the rubber starts to hit the road, to show us how to hack our individual lives. That’s when we start to learn the specifics of what makes us not only unique, but lovable.

It’s possible that the single biggest obstacle to the flight of the humun soul is overcoming the messages of the conditioned world to the effect that we are less than totally awesome and wonderful. Most of us take those early negative messages straight to heart, and then struggle ever after—not being able to find love in the world, being separated from the core of our true selves, and not knowing how to make good things happen for ourselves.

Why Now

Historically, most of us have been forced by lack of knowledge to stumble around in the dark to find out who we are and what we’re supposed to be doing with our lives. By the time we’re 60 or 70, we’re usually just starting to get a grip on the grown-up knowledge—usually just in time to stop caring, preferring to complain about our aches and pains.

A new stage of humun development is arriving, and meeting it calls for this knowledge far earlier than 60 or 70. The ideal is as soon as possible, from day one. Most of us find it as adults, already well conditioned, and that is still early enough: the sooner we gather this information and start using it, the sooner we see a path out of the mental cages that have been stunting our growth as humuns for centuries, and the more ready we are for what comes next.

My 5th Gate Story

My 5th Gate activation is the surprising one mentioned up in Individual Sessions: a spot in my chart that, when I first saw it, didn't seem right at all.
I considered my life to be one of self-examination and concentration on persunal evolution, but when I discovered Humun Design, I immediately found a spot glaring out at me. It felt wrong, it felt almost offensive to be stuck with this piece of definition.

No matter when I was born in the day, I had this 5th gate activation. The 5th gate is called the gate of waiting. It’s the gate of patience, of ritual, of regulated action—and I am in no way patient, or regulated, so what gives? This is how I discovered how invasive the Notself can get. I had much more of an identification with the gate at the other end of the channel, the 15th gate, the love of humunity in all its wild fluctuations.

One day, I noticed that every time I bathe, I have a very specific process that I follow to get everything done in the proper order...ho ho ho, it was a ritual. Once I started to see that, other rituals started to make themselves known to me as well—getting out the door, getting into bed, cleaning the kitchen. Now I know that my whole life is meant as a ritual, and I’m learning more about myself by the examination of my rituals and what they mean for me.

Looking back, my discovery of the meaning of just one activation I had totally missed was enough to toss my previous understandings totally upside-down. At 53, I feel much more like myself than I did before discovering that the 5th gate was a significant part of my living awareness.

No Quick Fix

Humun Design is no quick fix. Ra put a number on deconditioning, seven years, so that nobody would mistake seeing their chart for living it. Deconditioning means doing your homework: sitting with each activation and watching yourself do the things the chart says you do, line upon line, for years. The seven is a marker for the long view, borrowed from the folk idea that the body renews itself every seven years, and not a finish line: Ra is remembered saying he was still deconditioning in his third cycle. It is a life process.

Humun Design is also no therapy. What a chart shows can point to subjects worth taking into therapy, or to the stressors and places where life doesn't quite work: it helps identify them, understand why they happen, and see where mending can start. A chart fixes nothing just by being looked at; the change comes from engaging in the study and the experiment. None of it is meant to be swallowed whole. It is one big experiment, and the experimenting starts with the first look.
